Clinton Supporters, Campaign Workers and Volunteers for McCain before Obama

Add My Name To The List

We are a grassroots organization committed to supporting Senator John McCain's Presidential campaign in the event that Senator Clinton does not become the Democratic Party's nominee by the time of the November election. We feel very strongly that Barack Obama is by far, the lesser choice of the three remaining candidates, and we would rather see Senator John McCain in the Oval office if this nation cannot have Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton as its President.

We would like to be clear about our motivation. It is not out of bitterness that we make this commitment, nor is not out of any sense of racial or gender prejudice. As much as we may not want to see another Republican administration, we would rather see John McCain in the Oval Office than Barack Obama. This is about character, this is about honesty, this is about patriotism, this is about the economy, this is about what we believe to be best for the country and for the world. To borrow a phrase from Manuel L. Quezon, our loyalty to the party ends where our loyalty to the country begins.

Please try to be the change that you want to see in the world

The amount of animosity held by Obama supporters for Clinton supporters never ceases to surprise and disappoint me. I have not experienced the same anger or hatred from John Edwards' supporters. Nor have I experienced the likes of it from McCain, Romney, or Ron Paul supporters, nor by supporters of any other candidate. I have also not seen anything like it from Clinton supporters toward Obama supporters or supporters of any other candidate.

I also find surprising, the partisanship coming from Obama supporters; especially in light of the fact that this is a group that is supposed to be supportive of a "new kind of politics" where the partisan bickering and infighting is supposed to be a thing of the past.

There seems to be an assumption that once a person selects a candidate that he or she likes best, he or she must then stick with whoever that candidate's Party eventually puts forth in the general election. In other words, one must stick with one's favorite candidate's Party, and with that Party's candidate, regardless of how one feels about the candidate who ultimately wins the Party's nomination.

If you chose a Democratic candidate to begin with, it seems that you must NEVER switch your support to a Republican candidate, even if that candidate had been your second choice. If you do, you risk being labeled a "traitor", "scum", "un-American", "disinterested in the Nation's best interests", and far worse. This is what I have been the target of from Obama supporters. Nasty emails have even been sent to the personal email address of the person who has been hosting this site for this movement.

I have yet to hear about this type of treatment by Obama supporters of individuals whom had always supported John McCain, or of supporters of any other Republican candidate.

The people who are making these assumptions go further to label anyone that may have listed their top three Presidential candidates in the following order: Clinton, Edwards, McCain, "racists" and "warmongers".

I believe that the problems with these assumptions are self-evident, and that the logic being applied by those angry Obama supporters is severely flawed.

But if you must, go ahead and send your angry, nasty, and threatening emails, but do so only after you have done the same for the 20 million Americans who have already voted in support of Republican candidates, or at least the 9+ million who have already voted for John McCain.
